Bridge Renewal on Back Track

PNCC will have contractors working near the top of Back Track at Arapuke Forest Park (K-Loop) for the next month to replace the small bridge as it is unsound.  Riverside Construction will be on site from next Monday, Sept 19th.

The track will remain open during this work, but be prepared to stop and be guided through the worksite.

Two out of the three bridge bearers have rotted, so two new pre-cast concrete spans with a non-slip brushed concrete surface, resting on concrete foundations will be installed. Great for summer!

Quick Trail update:-
We hope to have a couple of trails formed in the logged areas, prior to Xmas.  These will start near the top of the road to the summit and lead down to the first skid site.  We will be using a contractor and digger to form the trails, but will need volunteers to finish off the trail and build any small structures needed to get across watercourses.

The About Time block will be logged this summer, as there is considerable windfall blocking trails in this area.  By the end of this summer, much of the area where we had trails will have been logged and rebuilding can start in earnest :-)
